Skylights are very popular in homes because of the natural light it lets in, but the downside is it lets in a tremendous amount of heat. This skylight heat problem can be addressed by installing skylight window film. This film can be applied on the inside or outside of the skylight depending on the type of glass. Window tinting can also reduce 99.9% harmful UV rays which causes fading of your furnishings Open up new possibilities in comfort, safety and designer style with window film for homes. Skylights account for a tremendous amount of heat buildup in the warmer months. We recommend using a dark or reflective solar film to reject heat and reduce glare. Unfortunately, dome skylights cannot have window film applied. Window film is made for flat glass and does not lay smooth on the curves of a dome skylight. You can buy do-it-yourself films, but the most effective Window films have to be professionally installed. I hope this was helpful. Feel free to leave any questions or comments below

It really helped when you said that we should use a dark or reflective solar film to reject heat and glare during the summer months. I will keep that in mind now that I have decided to get skylights installed on a part of our living room. Having this kind of addition or feature to our home will definitely help with making that room feel and look lively, but I appreciate the tip you gave about using tinted glass for warm seasons.

Your statement that putting skylight window film on can solve the problem of skylight heat intrigues me. I recently moved into a new home. I want to install a skylight in my home to save money on electricity, as well as window film to minimize heat problems.

Thanks so much for talking about how skylights let in so much natural light. My sister wants to put a few skylights in her roof so she can look at the stars from the safety of home. We'll have to look into finding a contractor who can help her put them in and make sure they're properly installed.
